Woodclose bedroom

Woodclose bedroom is another personal project. It’s my bedroom in the flat I started making furniture for. Eventually every opportunity to make something was taken, from the mirror stand on the chest of drawers to the light switch above the bed.

In the back corner a pitch pine bookcase that was built around the roof support. I wasn’t going to let some boxed in steel beam deprive me of precious storage space.

The bed head is made from upcycled church pews. Plenty of stripping, bleaching, colouring and French polishing to get it right.

Room doors and skirting were also in pitch pine and French polished to match the bed and book shelves. There’s a wardrobe built around an old pine wall panel rescued from a skip outside a house nearby in Shoreditch. There’s a walk in on either side of the wall panel with hanging rails and shelves to match the bookshelves.
