The Gentleman’s Valet Company
This is the range of luxury suit stands which I design and make as the Gentleman’s Valet Company. My first valet was made as a bespoke commission for an interior designer. It was loosely based on their rough sketch of a valet designed in the 1930’s for Hermes.
Some time later I decided to try my own designs and came up with my first valet. The Standard Valet started selling in 2011 along with two variations to give customers the chance to personalise their valet. The Hatstand Valet came with a choice of hat rest options and the Standard Lamp Valet both added useful options and a bit of humour.
The options for the valets grew, more hat rests and wall mounted valets. The skull hat rest and the flock velvet ball and globe. For a while there was even a football option.
Then I introduced the Gentleman’s Retainer(above) to the range. It was based on that first valet, redesigned and aimed at someone looking for a purely elegant style of valet.
Valet no.9 was aimed at a gentleman with a more modern style of home. Perhaps with a minimalist touch but with the wish to keep something stylish and functional in their dressing room.
Grace is my first valet for ladies. Aside from the main hanger, accessory tray and platform for shoes it works as a mannequin to drape clothes on. Ladies clothing is far more complicated than mens so Grace has to be more versatile than a man’s valet.
And finally there is the bespoke option. Aside from the many options already available and the fact that all the valets are made to the client’s height. Some clients would like to add or change details or have the valet finish match their dressing room.
