A freestanding oak bookshelf cabinet made for a London loft study. A true bespoke and made-to-measure piece of cabinetry.
The cornice follows the slope of the ceiling with a small gap to give the cabinet a crisp top line. The return section on the right side has a compound mitred profile. Shaped by hand to blend in with the shape of the rest of the cornice.
The reeding detail between the sections of the cabinet runs down from the cornice to meet the plinth feet.
Made as a freestanding cabinet, this loft study bookshelf cabinet can be taken apart and reassembled in a new home in the future. The sloped cabinet top just adds a quirky aspect to it. In the same way designers use antique shop cabinets, styling them into a different room using pictures or objects to create something unique.
